A 1980 graduate of Gustavus, Bob is in his 36th year in the admission office at Gustavus. He is a passionate Gustie and has worked enthusiastically with thousands of high school students and parents. He has traveled throughout rural and metropolitan Minnesota as well as throughout the United States representing Gustavus. His principal territory for the college is now the metro Twin Cities and suburbs.
In addition to his enthusiasm for meeting prospective students and their parents at college fairs, high schools and on campus, Bob reads hundreds of applications and serves on the application review team with the Dean of Admission. Bob is in charge of the College’s largest on campus recruitment event—Minnesota Private College Week in June every year and he also coordinates the college’s presence at the Minnesota State Fair in the Education Building every year. In 2005, Bob was chosen to receive the Eric Norelius Service Award for exemplary service and dedication to Gustavus Adolphus College.
Bob is a long-time member of the Minnesota Association of College Admission Counselors as well as its parent organization at the National level. He has served multiple year terms as co-chair of the National College Fair Committee and as co-chair of the Minnesota Education Fair committee. He is called upon frequently to speak to high school groups about the college search process and topics related to the college application and financial aid process.
