Norma Gutierrez currently serves as Director of College Counseling at Saint Thomas Academy (STA). Along with her role as a College counselor, she serves as the Diversity Coordinator. Prior to working at STA, she had served as the assistant director for multicultural recruitment for over 15 years in the Office of Admissions at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. She earned a Bachelor of Arts from Loyola of New Orleans and a Master of Social Work from Tulane University. She is past president of Minnesota ACAC, faculty member with NACAC’s Guiding the Way to Inclusion, and annual presenter at the Minnesota National College fair on the topic of access for first generation students. Norma is a proponent of post-secondary education and access. Participant in advocacy day on Capitol Hill and Minnesota’s state capital on issues important to students, families, and admission professionals across the country. She also serves on the College Knowledge Month steering committee with the goal that every Minnesota high school student pursue some form of education post high school.
